The OP says nothing about names and addresses being publicly shared, signs being posted on their doors, some magical knowledge that the gun owners will have, etc. So how are they going to go around and just rob the people who chose to take the money? Taking the money will not lead to an increased chance of someone trying to rob you. Your chances will be the same regardless.
