To be fair, literally every boy who competed in high school sports when I was in school 30 years ago had to have their balls fondled by either the school nurse or a doctor of their choosing.

Because they refused to let anyone compete unless they passed a physical, which included multiple tests (for stuff like scoliosis). And the hernia exam part involved a "turn your head and cough" test.

This here. It's kind of sad that it has come to this point, but it isn't any worse than it has been previously.
