Again, the math is not ambiguous, but the intent is. That equation equals 16, but because of how it's written, there's reason to suspect that the person writing it actually meant to get an answer of 1. That means it's poorly communicated. Judgmenl posted... Math cannot be poorly expressed. Anything can be poorly expressed. Any time somebody says something that has a significant chance of being interpreted differently from what they intend, they've poorly expressed it. Math is no exception. Communicating effectively has to take your audience's expected interpretations and responses into account. --- This is my signature.
