Just speaking for one person's experience, but it sure seems like Lego hasn't gone up all that much in price in the last 20 years. They've always been considerably pricey compared to other toys, but even as kid I always wrote that off as 'getting what you pay for' in terms of Lego's high quality control and their inherent versatility.

You still get what you pay for in terms of bricks, at least with the non-licensed stuff. The specialized sets in the $150 and up range are very dense brick-wise; at face value I thought the Blacksmith was overpriced even by Lego standards, but after having put it together myself it was worth every penny.

Cool. The minifig in that screenshot made me nervous. Would be so weird for what's clearly a retro-ish set to have flesh-toned minifigs, but I trust Lego to be aware of that.
