It's a wonderful place but you won't be able to see the good stuff without being able to speak Italian unless you have a guide. If you do go, I recommend visiting as many local festivals as you can. There are some big ones that are basically nationwide events that you can plan around although some festivals may really only be in one place despite nationwide attention.
