Topic | you have violent thoughts of removing squatters from someone else's home |
MrMallard 05/10/22 8:38:31 AM #13: | The simple fact is that if needy people resort to squatting in a home that the owner hasn't returned to/needed in the last 6 months of those needy people squatting there, the needy people should probably get that home. The other party has enough money that they can live elsewhere for an extended period of time, worst case scenario they need to start renting another house somewhere else. Where else are the squatters going to go? If you're so desperate that you've begun living in another person's home while they're away, I imagine there aren't a whole lot of other places for you to go. At least with the roof over your head you're going to survive, and having a home - running water, shelter, a place to sleep - means you have a foundational base to begin improving your life. Maybe the home was left dormant because the person who owned it had to move for a few months for a job. Maybe it's a second home that the owner gets away to every now and again. I feel more sympathetic towards the former - like yeah, it's fucked up and a rude awakening to discover other people have claimed your home while you've been pre-occupied with working abroad. That being said, they probably weren't working out of a cardboard box on the street. They have the resources to live somewhere else. In the case of the latter, they've lost a piece of property they owned, but they still have - and will always have - a home. In both cases, the squatters needed the house more. --- People say friends don't destroy one another - what do they know about friends? Now Playing: Old-School Runescape, Paladins, Tetris 99 ...
