Yes it's still dumb, and they do say only things the school gives out are allowed. State and Federal flags are political too >_> but oh it's fine when it's thoooose isn't it, school?

So just state and federal flags, teachers can't express their own views.
They ARE applying it fairly and taking down all though, so at the very least there's that.
If there were a straight flag they'd take it too it seems in at least this case.
So I'd say this case is being sensationalized here a bit.

This reeks of color-blind flatulent "White moderate"-ness. What's political about being gay or being Black? Yeah, if there was a KKK flag, they'd take it down - that doesn't equivocate to taking down material encouraging kids to feel safe.

There is no way to separate politics from education without lobotomizing education. You can't teach civics, can't teach history, can't teach biology. Anyone suggesting otherwise is naive, at best, but likely perfectly content with teachings that reinforce their personal biases.

Schools aren't sterile environments. It's impossible to divorce the political realities of the students in these public schools (again, Booker is the "Black" poor school) from the environment surrounding it. And Sarasota (and Florida) is swiftly turning into Trump-central, where you can flaunt the law if you're rich or Trump-looking and must follow every code if you break the norm.
Who is harmed by a Pride flag or COEXIST? If your parents don't want you learning that other religions exist or gay people exist, that's what homeschooling is for. Public schools cannot accommodate every lifestyle and one of those lifestyles it shouldn't accommodate is hatred and bigotry.
