* Buildings and houses would need to be re-wired
* Devices would need to be built differently to accept a different power source
* Power generation would need to be revamped entirely. The vast majority of we currently use to generate power is used to generate electricity at some point. Wind turbines, water turbines, nuclear power plants, coal plants, etc. are all used to convert energy into electricity. Even gasoline that goes into vehicles is used to generate electricity to power components in the vehicles.
We would essentially have to create an entirely new power grid and go through the process of installing that infrastructure globally. Not to mention all the new regulations that would need to come along with it.
Electric cars are still on the rise despite gas stations being much more common than charging stations.
