I just felt the need to clarify because its come up on this board before, and it happens all the time on dating apps. I just dont understand why cis men use interactions with me to bring up their crossdressing fetishes. Like, OK? Why my topic? Why not any of the other goth topics? Why not start your own topic?

I dont like when people conflate crossdressing with being transgender, and discuss them as if theyre related issues. I feel whether its intentional or not, your message in the context of THIS topic, contributes to that continued misunderstanding. Crossdressing is a valid form of self expression, but from my understanding its absolutely not an LGBTQ+ thing.

Another thing in particular that bothered me about your message is I feel so uncomfortable when people describe me as having courage, when the truth is that you dont know what kind of coward I am. I dont know whats going to happen, yeh I could get attacked on the street, but I could also die if my carbon monoxide detector goes out. A lot of what gave me the freedom to come out and continues to allow me to self express as I wish is the fact that Im privileged enough that I have a beyond fair amount of insulation from genuine mortal harm. Of course there absolutely are trans people who are astonishingly brave and intrepid, and who serve as inspirations and deserve all the credit for illuminating the path for us; but I am not one of them and I dont want people to get that impression of me.
