Okay, but how would a number 1 in women's have placed in the men's division aside from Lia?

probably lower

in the 200 freestyle her last 50 were faster than her first

that is not a thing that happens statistically- it indicates she was holding back

the real question, i think, isn't "does she have an unfair advantage" but rather "does that matter at all"

like, yeah she is winning a lot: is she taking anything of substance away from her opponents with those wins? i would argue she is not. swimming is not exactly a high-viewership sport.

i think(hope) no one is arguing that her transition isn't legitimate--it was two years ago that she came out and she competed as a man, despite being out, while undergoing HRT.

if trans women are not to be considered women just so that other women who are also at the peak of their physical prowess can win a trophy, why do we even have women's sports? the reason I understood was 'to empower women' but stripping her of her identity--one she has clearly gone through a lot for--would be doing the exact opposite.
