Yes it is a valid metric for measuring progress. But playing against players better than you who will probably be beating you most if not all of the time is fine, maybe even ideal. You should pick one thing to focus on bettering each time you play to start. DI to escape combos and survive, winning neutral, practicing punish game. You shouldn't expect to excel at everything at once. There are plenty of tutorial videos, find something that interest you and fuck around with it, win or lose. --- (...
