Whenever you die in Stormveil Castle, you only get 90% of your runes back. You can apparently see him sneaking around and following you.

And I didn't catch this until I read a reddit comement just now, but he's also the motherfucker that locks you into that room with the knight and the key. Presumably so he can just steal all of your shit. I thought it was weird that the eight-foot tall knight had such a squeaky, wheezing laugh.
