I thought last year was great, although I would have rathered Tick Tick Boom! or the Tragedy of Macbeth for Best Picture over Dont Look Up, which I still enjoyed.
I haven't seen many of the nominees yet but I'm inclined to agree with this anyway, it does look like a pretty great mix of movies. Though I do wish Tick Tick Boom or Macbeth were in BP too. And I'm sad that Passing was snubbed entirely, I had a feeling Ruth Negga would miss but she really really deserved to be here off of that performance.

How do I watch Drive My Car
Just in limited theatres right now for US, sadly. I looked up and saw it's available to rent on BFI player for 10 so I may do that, but I'm not sure if that's UK only.

Hmmm, although western animations keep beating the hell out of Japanese anime movies, I don't really think they're wrong.
The best Disney/Pixar movies are generally better than Japan's offerings.

I wonder how Japan can actually improve on that front, they can make a series of popular 20min episodes, but seriously lacking in the feature film department. Which is a shame.
Well, I pretty strongly disagree with all of this! But then I'm not a Disney guy so maybe I'm biased. I still can't quite believe that Your Name wasn't even nominated for an Oscar but Boss Baby was instead.
