Things Mal doesn't understand about 1984:
-there is only one party
-the media is a direct branch of the government
-believing the state/media is forced under law
-there is no other media allowed
-you are not allowed to question the media, which again, is the actual government
-the media constantly agrees and never argues even when changing narrative mid sentence
-no alternate press is allowed to point out when the media is lying

What Mal thinks happens in 1984 apparently:
-there are two major parties, plus tons of unaffiliated groups
-having major influence over one part of the media is the same as literally owning and controlling it entirely
-the media is free to report what they want, right or wrong
-others are allowed to call out the media
-media outlets are free to disagree with the government and each other, and do so constantly

What mal does not understand of RL:
The government is not the media. They do influence it due to media having blind support for said party but there is no direct control, unlike 1984.

As I said the closest is china and korea I believe, the US is nowhere close to that point yet.

The mainstream media at this point is basically a propaganda arm of the government. Wikileaks exposed it last summer. The DNC fed info to the big leftist networks. And yes, CNN is leftist. They try to pull that "we're here in the centre" bullcrap, but that's ridiculous. At least Fox and Breitbart admit what their own agendas are.
