80/80 My friend was discussing to us at dinner about how he has trouble with his second-language class, and that in English he has a lot of trouble with stuff like people using 'they' as a singular pronoun. He said something along the lines of it being really hard to remember how to refer correctly to people who ask to not be referred to as he/she because his brain wants to just pick one so that he can process the sentence.

Some girl got up, came by our table, and with a patronizing smile, asked, "What, do you have a learning disability?" like she was roasting some awful bigot or something.

He said "pretty much, yes," and she sat down next to us with a look of glee like she was about to verbally murder someone, I'm not exaggerating. She kept asking him "how hard is it to call someone they if they want you to" and "aww, so you can't refer to groups of people as they?" He kept trying to explain that yes, he does have a learning disability and that he had trouble properly speaking simple English up to the fifth grade, but she seemingly didn't care about anything he actually had to say. He tried to make the analogy "you're basically asking someone in a wheelchair to run better" and she just replied "well try harder, asshole" before storming off.

The fuck is wrong with people
