not killing people makes you an a******
who knew

Not killing people like maybe most iterations of riddler, catwoman, or mr freeze (maybe not, he tends to just fucking freeze gotham every now and then, but you understand me?) is just fine. These guys need help and don't murder on a daily basis (again, not all versions). But throwing guys like Joker them into a corrupt paper prison where they can not only influence more people to help them cause their unnecessary destruction is just fucked.

I say he's an asshole, because he's taken gotham as his sole responsibility and refuses help, when it would save more lives. Maybe asshole is too harsh? Is that the problem? Misguided and poor in judgement then.

Clayface, I would be wrong on though.

Batman doesn't kill people because once you start you can't stop and soon you are exactly the same as the people you kill. Its a slippery slope Bruce doesn't want to go down.

I know this, but I always thought it was a horrible and flimsy excuse. 1) if he doesn't have the self control to set punishments that match crimes, maybe he shouldn't have the responsibility as batman. 2) Repeat mass murderers probably do just need to not be around anymore and it's not like he's ignorant to the fact that arkham is shit.

I get that some of these people need help, but many of them can't be helped. Ivy has been helped recently (I didn't know that until this topic, cool) so I concede alongside clayface, maybe there's a method to his madness, but how many lives have to be lost trying to find the good apples among a group of mass murdering repeat offenders?

There's several of stories where he works as bruce in order to better places like arkham and it's an uphill battle, and I genuinely enjoy those because it feels like he's not just living a wet dream of punching villains to feel better about crime alley. They are just too few, I guess.
