You have the complete wrong idea about what emo is.
i know exactly what emo is. i'm talking about the mainstream popularity of it in the 2000s specifically. i thought that would be apparent by the usage of the word "craze".
If you're talking about stuff like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Taking Back Sunday, etc. I personally wouldn't really consider that emo, in the same way that I wouldn't consider something like disturbed or five finger death punch to be metal. Maybe my definitions are too purist but I stand by them.
This. I'd take mid-90's At the Drive-In and Cap'n Jazz over that garbage any day of the week. ---
