When I eat meat it's not because I forget they feel pain though. It's because I want nourishment and I value my life over species.

Is that the only reason? Or just one of many reasons?

And if you could get nourishment from other ways would you still feel the same?

Of course I know I can get nourishment in other ways, but I'm not going to eat the same amount of grass or corn that the chicken or cow ate when I can eat a beef patty or a chicken breast and get the same nutrients. I'm not going to make my life more difficult just so instead of me killing the animal, its the wild snake, or weasel, or eagle.

And finally I consider myself on higher moral ground than people who spare eating animals. I respect all life equally and will eat food from as many kingdoms as I can, I'm not biased towards the ones that have pain receptors. You don't think carrots or mushrooms don't like having their life cut short too? They can't express their displeasure, but their attempts to resist are evident.
