Part of this is on me since I keep cranking up the difficulty (I'm currently on Intense, which I unlocked by fighting a bunch on Hard) but at the same time the game kind of encourages it by giving you better drops, the only way to get certain drops, more gold, etc. but it doesn't help that you no longer gain HP from leveling and healing is made a lot more complicated (including "healing but not really" where you have to engage a separate subsystem to actually have the heals apply instead of sitting in stock) and the AI is just dumb But even with all that it's usually okay. But then it threw this boss which was laughably beyond everything else this game has had so far. It's nearly twice my level, the first part is just a stall/survive so no big deal. But then the second part is another survive, but you have to knock it down to like half health to continue. But the boss is intentionally resistant to almost everything you have available and can one-shot with certain moves. (Once you get past THAT you're given the tools to make the fight manageable but god.) Had to turn the difficulty down two notches from Intense to clear it. Maybe if I decided to be crazy stubborn I could have won on Hard but after a bunch of BS I went "screw it" Strategy options seem to suck compared to previous Tales games too. I have them set to try and defend/recover if they drop under 50% HP but do they do that? Hardly ever. I can usually force them with a party command but that means everyone stops any offense, so if there's multiple enemies that I can't all tie up by myself (and I usually can't!) they can just run over and wail on my team and interrupt any healing attempts. basically they're dumb and try to cost me grade and items. and grade has immediate benefits here and isn't just a grade shop thing. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? <cite>xp1337 posted [p:884752467] in Jeff Zero ...
