I agree hitting your girl is bad, but the fact is people only seem to care about domestic violence when the victim is a girl. To a large degree, no one cares, and many even laugh, when the victim is a guy.

It does speak to weirdness that it cannot be appreciated how terrible men are that hit women without bringing up "women do it to men too!"... it's the sort of male fragility that leads men to hit women in the first place.

Because society knows it's bad to hit women and get way more support when they're the victim.

If we want to have a discussion purely on 'its bad to hit women" then the discussion would be "ok we know" and it'd end there. It's something that doesn't really need to be said. Even people that do hit women know it's bad, they're just scummy people. See a man hitting a woman in public, and many rush up to defend the girl.

The reason it's brought up a lot in general discussions is because topics like these always single out man on woman violence. It speaks to the weirdness why woman on man violence is often initially excluded from domestic violence conversations tbh
