The Olympic Charter indicates that in order to be accepted, a sport must be widely practiced by men in at least 75 countries and on four continents and by women in no fewer than 40 countries and on three continents. I think only fighting games are played by women in no fewer than 40 countries, and even that one I wouldn't put money on...and fighting games kind of stumble due to the lack of a governing body (which other esports do meet - League of Legends is administered by Riot Games, which has international offices, for example). This is the true stumbling block for Esports entering the Olympics - the fact that they still are a young man's game, not a young woman's. --- Shine on, you crazy diamond. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
