They are the one really trying to move with the way everything is going (Digital/streaming) They are the only one of the 3 with the actually physical infrastructure to host games (the other 2 would need to hire space), They overall make the most profit of the 3 and the Xbox brand makes a tidy profit for MS so unlikely to be dropped. Unless Sony spin out the gaming side, the rest of Sony may drag them down (they really should do this!) and Nintendo are already moving towards being a handheld focused company. in 20 years gaming will be very different, and Microsoft seem to be the only one actually investing in back end infrastructure to power it (Azure) ...
