I mean, you're just wrong. Looking at any site lists MH as either an action RPG or an action game. These are sites with hack and slash as a genre and they intentionally didn't put MH in that genre.

Hack and slash is an evolution of the beat em up genre, not general action games.

All of this ignores the fact that there are many weapons that cannot hack or slash like the guns or bows.
