They're hardly mentioned, appear in one episode, then it's revealed they created the White Walkers. Ridiculous oversight to not spend more time on the mythology. It'd be interesting to hear what goes on behind the scenes. You're absolutely right that the Iron Islands should have been in, instead of Dorne. But those are the sins of S4-5. IIRC, one of the reasons we went to Dorne was not just because of Oberyn, but because of Ellaria's actress. Indira Varma apparently really impressed B&W. So... yeah.
