So if an officer loses his life because he followed exact protocol in dealing with this man, who should be the one to let his family know? It would be an absolute tragedy for sure and I won't discount that in anyway, especially because I appreciate the work police do; it's not an easy job. In no way am I suggesting that police be docile while trying to apprehend a criminal that is fleeing or putting anyone else's life at risk.
