Here's a hot take: access to legal and/or federally funded abortions has an impact on population growth, which is strongly correlated to economic growth. Since it also has an impact on who gives birth in addition to how many births there are, it has a strong impact on the number of children who grow up in poor, single-parent households that receive welfare. Research has proven that these are all detrimental, and in the absence of abortion access, we would have entire generations of people with worse educational attainment and labor market outcomes. If you don't think that has an impact on economic development, you're crazy. Like many public policy decisions, the near-term changes might not affect "most americans," it's only when you think about the long-term that you see the costs and benefits --- He would make his mark, if not on this tree, then on that wall; if not with teeth and claws, then with penknife and razor. ...
