| omega cookie 07/20/17 7:59:47 PM #22: | As someone who has done virtually every non-hallucinogenic drug out there, and because of that has spent a large amount of time with people who do drugs, I've noticed that a lot of heavy drug users seem to take the condemnation of their drug of choice as a personal attack on them.* Like, if I were to say "I think weed should stay illegal", they would interpret that as "anyone who smokes weed deserves to die". It's pretty odd how people seem to take this thing they do and enjoy, and turn it into this integral, defining piece of their character. *Note: I say a lot of, because not every single heavy drug user does this. In my younger years, I was the coke fiend to end all coke fiends. Coke is AWFUL for you, and if it were made legal and sold at the gas station, I would be dead in a week. I said the same thing while I was still doing it. I'm sure there are heavy weed smokers who don't get mad if people are against it, I've even known some. By and large, however, I've found this to be true for most people. tl;dr: It's probably better to just not argue about drugs with people who do them.
