Everything is connected in a logical, orderly way that can be determined (and pre-determined) using mathmatics. There is no soul, there is no chance, and all your future actions have already been determined (we just don't have the information yet).

Consciousness is an illusion of choice, but actually is a collection of past experiences and memories that determine what you will do at any given point, or any "choice" that you can make.

As far as the ultimate purpose of the universe, how it was created, what it's exact laws are, and why they are in place, that is information that would destroy the actual purpose of the universe so it can not be known to us. While everything is pre-determined, it does not appear that way to us, and there is an illusion of free will. This illusion is, in a very basic sense, the ultimate purpose, or at least as much of it as we can understand.
