Psycho-Pass, Kanon, Eureka Seven, Attack on Titan, Persona 5. Whole nine yards. I rented Star Trek (2009) for us to watch because I had a feeling Leon would like it. (He did!) I don't envy Abrams with that movie. He had to reintroduce a 43-year-old franchise to a whole new generation. There were 10 movies and 28 seasons of television at that point, and the latest show (2001-2005) was not well-regarded at the time. Star Trek remained lucrative in merchandising, but its future elsewhere had become dubious. He married a good helping of cast chemistry to a decent script and still seeded plenty of winks and nods for the existing fanbase. I know a contingent of Trek fans dislike the new films (oh believe me, I know) but I dig 'em. Sure, the limited structure of feature films doesn't allow for vast worldbuilding and whatnot, but these are pretty great, especially the first one and Beyond. Into Darkness is likeable. --- I thought I knew gaming. And I did, until I met... LusterSoldier, Winner of the GameFAQs Best Year in Gaming Tournament! ... Copied to Clipboard! |
