Its not like cars , although i would go so far as to say that yes cars are lethal weapons as well but the difference between the two is glaringly obvious. We can have do cars kill people debate another day.
Cars actually kill people more directly than guns based on the idea of intent. When a person picks up a gun, they intend to do harm (although there are some accidents). Most car deaths aren't done with intent, ergo a lot of the harm is attributed to the vehicle. Keep in mind that the number of vehicular deaths in the US is *far* higher than the number of gun deaths in the US despite guns only being designed to do harm.

What are you talking about? People get killed by hunting rifles all of the time.
But that's not their purpose anymore than a car is built to kill. A handgun though is purpose built to kill people. It has no other function. An ak47 is a lousy hunting rifle. It's only for killing people. An uzi is worthless for turkey hunting, but great for killing groups of people quickly.
Except that all guns have the same essential purpose: To do harm. It's not like a hunting rifle is a less effective weapon for killing people because it's also used to kill animals; in fact, most are effective at killing people than handguns. (And, of course, most cars are also more effective at killing people than handguns but I digress...)
And an AK47 can be an effective hunting weapon if you're an awful shot.

Actually a hunting rifle is a remarkably poor weapon. Difficult to aim at close range, effectively only one shot. It's not designed for snap shots. It's designed to shoot far at steady targets. ---
