I concur.

Unlike video games, books aren't concerned with gameplay. Thus, the writer can focus entirely on the story and the characters.

With games, I concede that you're better immersed visually. But that's really it.

It goes deeper than just visual/audible immersion. You are physically (well, digitally) interacting with the world.

While that's true, is that edifying compared to literature? I don't think so.

If we're talking about personal enrichment and knowledge, I don't think video games can even hold a candle to books. As I said above, with video games there is so much emphasis on the gameplay. Oftentimes, the story and more is secondary.
