This is probably the only reason most of these coins ever had any value - because people don't really understand what they are and they're just hoping for a quick buck. Ethereum and lite coin I don't really understand how they work. Heard of ripple too, apparently that has gone up in value quite a bit, but can't remember the exact number. Lite coin has gone up from about $3 a coin to $24 a coin over the last year.... won't make you rich very quick but profit off a measly amount of money nonetheless.
