Just trying to understand why a lesbian would be more hurt if her partner slept with a man than another woman. It's not something I get naturally, since I'm a straight guy.

Another element is that it's typically deliberate when a lesbian goes to sleep with a man it is to hurt an ex even more because everyone involved knows she isn't attracted to the man. It's a bit more excusable if you slept with another woman because you fell in love with her.
Using sex as revenge I can understand, I guess. I've seen girls cheat on their boyfriends because they were upset about something he did or said. I take it this is a variation on that kind of thing. ---
