| RedPixel 05/17/17 3:03:06 PM #7: | Yes... got hit through my dorm's weak ass shit wi-fi proxies. Horrible network security, yet they forced their students to use it or we weren't given wi-fi access. I had a paper to submit and all of a sudden I was being told that my computer was on lockdown for distributing child pornography unless I paid $200. It was the FBI ransomware. Unlocked my computer back by booting up Linux from a flash drive and running some anti-virus Ubuntu software for my hard drive. I wrote a complaint letter to vent my frustrations of the applications they were using, and to be a total smart ass I attached my resume that emphasized my IT experience. (Why the fuck not, right? Hated washing dishes for $ at that school, but a guy's gotta eat.) As expected, I never heard back from them, but my friend who was still there after I left said that they changed their wi-fi access/network security up a lot over that summer. To this day, I'd like to think that my letter worked to an extent. #ScootOverBitches ... Copied to Clipboard! |
