Pure math is Abstract Algebra. Otherwise Machine Learning.

I've been taking an online class in machine learning, though I haven't done anything on it in like a month. The math is kind of a headache. A lot of it seems to revolve around the ability to look at some formulas and figure out how to vectorize the code so that you can take advantage of parallelization instead of using for-loops.

Yeah implementing ML algorithms is pretty straightforward. It's good to try and get intuition behind the algorithms since you'll likely be treating algorithms as a black box.

Lots of interesting math in ML really challenging stuff but very rewarding to learn the theory.

I just finished my semester here is the course page with nice links to free books: http://francesco.orabona.com/teaching.html
