okay well I'm watching now time to summarize

Starts with like a flash back scene of little boy bored at summer playing around on the floor, dad takes him out to buy him a game, gets Final Fantasy III (famicom). Kid's into it and dad's just at the kitchen table with the mom all "oh is it alright? you used to say that stuff's no good...", dad "ever now and then I guess" reading newspaper.

Dad looks back and sees boy losing at a boss fight and his face is like O_O hmmmmmmm

night comes and Dad's playing the game, boy comes down seeing this all "... dad?", which he responds "... this is quite interesting after all huh", and boy sits down and helps instruct him

bahahah oh god now at a crystal and the FF theme plays, becoming a warrior of light and in game and dad's all hype oh man hikari no senshi?!

Theme song to the show plays... it seems in-show has a different title translation. Not Dad of Light, but "Daddy of Light". Also clearly time skip happens, FFXIV after all, at least through the OP it looks like dad plays XIV with son these days.



yessss first scene boy talks about being an adult as he plays XIV, and his character? Female Miq'ote awyeah best choice. After he types whatever message to some Aru-chan, cuts to a voice acted clip of his character saying what he typed (Aru-chan, thanks for today!), and does this clearly in-game acted scene with these questing pals, then cutting out to boy playing it.

sadly it seems dad hasn't kept up to this point, seems a bit astranged and boy says doesn't even know the last time they talked as pops heads out to work :(

Next scene Boy's at work, mom calls, something's happened with dad? Cut back to dinner at home, dad's... retiring? He's 60 and boy doesn't really understand, off to XIV he goes. As he chats with XIV pals he thinks back to young days again, him enjoying talking to his dad about FF3 progress but dad got a promotion so was too tired for that stuff anymore. Cue sad music :(

This cut back to present time and his character telling the story to his friend has me dying. Miq'ote girl saying "I was shocked, I didn't understand it but from then on me and dad....."... then camera cuts to each of the other characters he's talking to, listening to his story... and a Lalafell girl says "hey but now that he's retired can't you play together again?" and they all push for him to talk to dad about it.
