I pretty much don't buy anything old digitally unless it's on sale. But then again I don't get many AAA games anymore and the ones I do I tend to get fairly new.

I've noticed that too. Its strange but I think explainable.

I think its because a game that has a physical and digital release get viewed by people still a certain way, allowing companies to charge the 50/60. A digital only release gets viewed differently (frequently because digital only releases are from smaller companies for one reason), thus gets the lower price tag.

It's not really a perception thing. Those games don't have as big of a budget in the first place, so of course they're going to both charge less and not go through process of a physical release.
