Much of Rare's talent from back then left a long time ago, many of whom formed Playtonic. Buying Rare would only get you a hollow shell of their former selves. 2. Microsoft owns Rare's IPs, so buying Rare would not get Banjo, Conker, Killer Instinct, etc. back in Nintendo's fold.
