Topic	How can the Smash series top Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Snake, Ryu, and Cloud?

I suppose Banjo & Kazooie is an option, but they aren't as big as they once were and Microsoft has done jack shit with them since the very polarizing Nuts & Bolts; plus, they're wholly owned by Microsoft as a first party IP, so despite Spencer's comments I'm not sure just how feasible that is. If they want to top the hype of outside-Nintendo characters, I feel the only way to do so is the look beyond video games.
