DS2 has dramatically better gameplay mechanics, but a lot of the boss fights are either a giant knight of some kind or multiple enemies at once. I've never played the dlc, but I hear that the bosses on those sections are pretty good though. Anyway, I loved demons souls when it came out, but it's aged pretty poorly.
