Nah, most of the complaints about it are just letting nostalgia hype up the older Star Wars movies. Star Wars has never really had deep, compelling characters, unless you start digging into the EU. Just looking at the movies, they're fun adventures in space, and it was losing touch with that core and trying too hard to be a grand, compelling story that made the prequels such a mess. Rogue One's characters were a bit more shallow than even that, simply because of how throwaway they had to be, but they were definitely written well enough to allow for fun adventures in space, and it had really awesome space adventures. That's all I'm looking for in a Star Wars movie, and it did that better than any other one.

Now, that was just one viewing, and still relatively recent. I may ease off on that opinion a bit after later viewings, or after more time has passed, but right now? Best Star Wars. ****ing come at me.
