| Topic | Why do people hate when an attendant pumps the gas for you |
| GreenKnight127 11/02/25 9:35:10 AM #31: | I once pulled up to a smalltown gas station. Before I even opened my door to exit my car, a guy APPEARED at my window and asked, "Fill 'er up?" and I suddenly realized it was a full service gas station. I smiled and said, "Yes, please". He fills it up. And while it's filling, he whips out a spray bottle and washed my windshield. Walks around the car and checks all my tires with a little gauge device. Then comes back to my window and I give him some cash for the gas and a few bucks extra. He says, "ill be right back with your change" and I say, "No, you can keep the change, thank you!" The look on his face was something I did NOT expect. He seemed upset. Angry, even. He said, "No. I will be back with your change." I said, "You can keep it, dude." And he looked like I had just slapped him across the face or something. He didnt seem to want to push it beyond that, and I just nodded and drove off. Thought about it a lot over the years. Was he mad that I was essentially tipping him? Was that disrespectful of me? Like Im looking down on him or something? I never understood his reaction. --- Different opinions: Insightful to the strong - Inciteful to the weak ... Copied to Clipboard! |
