Yeah, the way they are setting it up I think the author has set himself up where if he wants to drag out the later floors to keep the series going he can, but he has also himself up that the later floors could fall apart/go really quick if he wanted. The fact no one has ever made it that far gives him a lot of flexibility, and the game like nature also opens up something like 16 just being one final shop, 17 being a boss rush in the cabaret (or just a joke as they blow through the cabaret), and 18 just being a discussion/last boss fight.

I am not fully caught up yet with the series, but that is the impression I have at this point. I could also see it dragging on beyond the game if he really wants where they end up leading a revolt of some kind against the corrupt system, but I don't really see it going that way.
