for the record, and I was confused by this too, in English, the Polish term for Polish person is actually a slur. Maybe specifically American English, not sure.

It'a derogatory term in North America, then again some words we use in the Rest of The World as slang for things and I'm not talking about nationality or race based terms but general stuff such as names of food items, North Americans find them offensive. Different words have different meanings, plus terms change over time.

One such example was used in medical textbooks and even street names then people got offended by it as the years went by.

I wonder, do we think there'll ever be a generation in the future that isn't offended by certain non nationality/race terms?
