I haven't actually watched the movies since I was a kid and didn't pay much attention to the plot other that "Woah, big disonaurs!" so the human element was completely ignored by me. You should read the book. Aside from being a much better story, Hammond is also a huge piece of shit there. The movie kind of turns him into this kindly old man who just wants to make the world a happy place where people can look at dinosaurs, but the book emphasizes just how mercenary he actually is. Even in the movie it's kind of implied that Nedry sells out because Hammond doesn't pay him enough, but in the book it's explicitly spelled out that they kind of fuck Nedry over, and him making the deal is almost less about the money and more about revenge.
