I started it a couple weeks ago (had a work trip so didnt go too far) but honestly the parry stuff felt overblown to me. Gave me more Paper Mario/RPG style vibes than anything from the Souls games

I made my opinion on this pretty clear in the Clair Obscur topic back when we had it, but I'll just encapsulate it here and then move on:

a) I have never been able to parry in any game ever. I can do anything else I might be asked to do as a gamer, but never parrying.
b) I don't like interruptions/interactivity to JRPG attacks in any game. It simply slows down the pace in the name of supposedly making things interesting, when all it does is punish you for not engaging with a mechanic that gets old after the third or fourth time you do it.
c) You "can" play without parrying, but not really. You'll get punished by status effects and usually by massive damage if you don't at least dodge.
d) The timing on dodge/parry is sometimes very clear and obvious once you learn to focus on the audio clues and the slowdown, but for many enemies it's very frustrating until you've fought them a whole pile of times...which is precisely the same moment you stop fighting them. Even then, you still have to twiddle your thumbs as you watch them bob and weave like a drunken master.

So basically, I'm bad at it and think it wastes time.
