| Topic | Will you buy an RTX 50 series card? |
| Doe 01/29/25 2:01:12 PM #33: | Ivany2008 posted... Your comparing a card that's been out for a few years and has had multiple update patches to address performance issues to a card that was just released and has no patches. Of course its going to look only 4% better. It might not get better by much, but I'm going with the assumption that once 2026 hits the performance difference will probably be around 20%. AI Frame Generation hasn't been fully explored yet, as its essentially a new technology.Actually, it's not an "of course" at all. The 3080 smoked the 2080 Ti at a lower price and the 4080 matched the 3090 Ti (albeit it was more expensive than the 3080 significantly at launch). 1080 was 30% faster than a 980 Ti. There's a reason reviewers are pretty uniformly disappointed in the 5080 and that is because it is not showing the in-class generational improvement we typically expect. It's looking more like the 20 series, though the 20 series had the feature novelty of hardware ray tracing support, while the only advertised locked feature of the 50 series is multi-frame-gen, which reviewers aren't super happy with. --- https://imgur.com/gallery/dXDmJHw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75GL-BYZFfY ...
