Reminds me of the last time I saw one co-worker as my most funny 'quit/fired' story.

He got a call, I suddenly hear him go "There is an AREA OUTAGE, I cannot fix this. We are working on it...... Fuck. You." and then he stood up and walked out of the building and I never heard about him again.
When my dad was a business owner, the SOP was to report to "the shop" in the morning (this was where all the trucks and equipment were stored, repaired and tinkered with) then ride in company trucks to the job site. So once you were there, you didn't have a way back until the day was done.

Now, my dad was just about the worst boss you can imagine. He managed the business well on that end, but when it came to the workday, he was awful. He worked everyone far too hard and far too fast, and he yelled a lot. Hardly anyone ever worked for him more than a month or two. Only five--myself included--that I can think of, and of those, only two ever hit the one-year mark.

Well, this one guy got so fed up with it--on his first day, no less--that he just walked off. With no car, no nothing, in the middle of who the hell even knows where. Just took off into the woods and was never seen again. My dad didn't want to leave him--I mean, hell, he was bad but even he had his limits--but he couldn't get him on the phone or anything. He had to leave a message that basically said "If you need a ride home, call me and I'll come pick you up."

Maybe he called a friend, or just happened to live up the street or something. Nobody ever figured it out. Or maybe he's where the Bigfoot legend began.
