That interview should never have aired. A good news editor would have made the call to keep it off the air, but it is a reporter's job to always get the interview, and it is a photographer's job to always take the photo.

Should have been run as a, "One eight-year-old student told our reporter the the scene that she knew the teacher and that she was, quote, 'scared and sad.' " We never should have seen the video.

BUT...I will hold the benefit of the doubt about the popsicle. That feels very much like something that a school counselor or trauma response team would offer kids who haven't gone home yet, to keep them calm and reassured for their safety. Journalists aren't taught to bribe interviews out of people, even kids, and I don't think you'd see that kind of behavior out of a local outlet. That would be an OAN or Newsmax thing to pull.

God, I hope it was the school who gave her the ice cream and not the reporter. Don't think I could stomach this shit being worse.
