It's the same mentalities behind pushing Hillary back in the day.

"She's such a good fundraiser" (Hillary)/"she has such great voter outreach" (AOC) - Cool, they'd be great DNC employees. Doesn't directly translate to being a good candidate.

"She has such great relationships with party members and always does what the party needs" - Cool, they'd be great Congressional vote whips. Doesn't directly translate to being a good candidate.

"The GOP's been attacking them for so long because it's SCARED" - Orrrr the GOP saw vulnerable, easy-to-boogeyman, low-hanging fruit, and seized the opportunity.

The only thing that makes a good candidate is broad appeal to voters, and Hillary ended up with terrible numbers on that front, which AOC currently has as well. Swing states aren't going for AOC. The GOP blared anti-AOC propaganda in nearly every NY swing district this year and the Dems lost those races.

We just had a Democrat who ran a centrist campaign and lost. It's clear America doesn't want Republican Lite.

Running a centrist campaign doesn't mean you're actually accepted as a centrist. Voters viewed Harris as too liberal because of how to the left she ran in 2020.
